The early years...

Rudy Vaughan was born in 1970 and led to the Lord by his parents when he was six. Raised in a Christ-centered home, he was fortunate to be exposed at an early age to foreign missions, since the Vaughan family often traveled outside the country on  mission trips.  God used these years to plant  in Rudy's heart, a seed of  desire to be involved in ministry for a lifetime.

The critical years...

Following in his father's footsteps, Rudy began learning to fly airplanes at the age of 16.  During his final year of high school and the early college years, the desire to study God's Word intensified.  A successful summer ministry at a Christian white-water rafting camp prompted him to begin a  group Bible study at college the next  fall.  As God blessed with growth to over 100 students, that ministry seed of desire was growing stronger in Rudy's heart.  A decision for the ministry was on the horizon.

The responding years...

It was during his second year of college at  Liberty University, while attending a  chapel service, that Rudy responded to God's call to preach. Soon after, God revealed how one day those piloting skills would be used in a traveling ministry of evangelism and encouragement world-wide.  The dream seemed impossible, but with a new sense of enthusiasm the ministry training continued, one Bible class and one flight hour at a time.

The training  years...

While Bible training began in Virginia, it continued farther south at Tennessee Temple University, where he graduated with a double major in Biblical Studies and Pulpit Communications.  Following graduation God continued to open doors for Rudy to accelerate in his flight training and grow in ministry experience. These were confirmations that encouraged him to keep his sights on the goals God had given him.

These exciting years...

Today, years of Bible and flight training have come together to provide a unique opportunity for Rudy to travel throughout the world, encouraging others in the Word.  As an ordained evangelist, Rudy pilots  Boeing 757 and 767  aircrafts.  Through this avenue, personal family finances are not intermingled with ministry funds.  All gifts to Word Outreach are able to go specifically to ministry related expenses, similar to the tent making ministry of the apostle Paul (Acts 18:1-4; 20:34; 1 Corinthians 9:18). However, the ministry is more than preaching and teaching.   As a team, Rudy and his wife, Shelly, are able to travel abroad and encourage missionaries.  It has been exciting to see God make a way for the ministry of Word Outreach International!

Rudy and his family live in Kentucky
